A serving officer in the Zambia Police Service, Sergeant Susan Yuyi, has been arrested by the Anti-Curruption Commission (ACC) for abusing her authority and engaging in corrupt practices involving K50,000.
Yuyi, 30, is alleged to have purported that there was a complaint against certain named individuals so as to solicit money from them when, in fact, there was no such complaint.
The police officer of Kabulonga Police Post was paid various sums of money on different occasions as inducement to assist the said persons in favorably dealing with the matter she purported was active against them.
ACC Head Corporate Communications Timothy Moono said that K10,000 of the bribe money had been recovered by the ACC during an operation.
Yuyi has been granted bond pending her court appearance.
