The Government has began rehabilitating the National Heroes stadium in Lusaka.
Sports minister Elvis Nkandu has disclosed that a contractor will also soon move on site at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
At Heroes, the renovation works will involve the removal of the existing turf, installation of solar powered hybrid boreholes and repair works on the entry points, according to a post on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Facebook page.
So far, the technical area (seats) have been replaced with modern fittings. Sports Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe commissioned the work today.
Chilesha said the works were expected to be completed by December 2024.
FAZ registrar and club licensing manager Iva Lengwe says the Association welcomes the works as they will help ensure the stadium meets the standards required for CAF certification.
