The football community united to commemorate this solemn occasion alongside the bereaved families, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), and other notable figures.
Addressing the gathering at Heroes Acre, the final resting place of the footballers, President Andrew Kamanga reassured the families of ongoing support, recognizing their significant contributions.
“We continue to draw inspiration from their sacrifice in service to our nation,” Kamanga emphasized.
Peggy Mwape, widow of the late FAZ chairperson Michael Mwape, affectionately remembered her husband as a loving and caring individual. She believed that he would have excelled in football had tragedy not struck.
“My husband had immense potential in football,” Mwape lamented, reflecting on his untimely demise.
She urged football administrators in the country to prioritize unity for the advancement of the sport.
