BuyZed founder and ambassador Evans Ngoma has called on Zambians to purchase and embrace local products as that will result in job creation.
In a statement to commemorate this year’s Labour Day, Ngoma says unemployment in the country can be addressed by among others, promoting locally grown and manufactured products.
Ngoma says by buying local, demand for products will increase to create demand for more human resource.
“Our desire as BuyZed is to see to it that having an intentional preference for locally-produced goods will create sustainable jobs and boost our economy,” Ngoma stated.
Ngoma further said that whenever one purchases a local product, they contribute to workers in that company to remain in employment.
“We believe that one sure way of tackling unemployment is by all citizens individually and collectively promoting local products”.
Meanwhile, Ngoma has bemoaned the current economic situation.
“Sadly, what we usually see in such instances is workers’ salaries not being adjusted to help them cope. Our plea is for organizations and businesses to create a win-win situation by rewarding workers fairly and help to cushion the economic impact on their wellbeing,” Ngoma added.
This year’s Labour Day is being commemorated under the theme; “Building Resilience, Workers At The Heart Of Zambia’s Economic Recovery”.
Activities took place across the country with President Hakainde Hichilema gracing the celebrations in Solwezi.
