Yango, an international tech company, is ramping up security measures on its platform with the introduction of enhanced safety features aimed at protecting partner drivers and users. The company, which commenced operations in March 2022, has recently extended its services to Solwezi, broadening its operational footprint beyond Lusaka, Kitwe, and Ndola.
Kabanda Chewe, Country Manager at Yango, expressed, “Since the beginning of this year, we have been consistently enhancing our app and implementing new safety measures for both riders and partner drivers. Chewe emphasized the paramount importance of safety in the transportation industry and highlighted Yango’s proactive approach to fortifying its platform and improving security protocols. This underscores the company’s dedication to delivering a secure and dependable ride-hailing experience for all users.
A notable update includes the introduction of a new rider selfie feature, allowing passengers to upload a photo to their personal taxi account. This enables drivers to view the profile of the passenger they are picking up, while passengers can also see the driver’s selfie. Before the trip, drivers have access to the passenger’s number of trips and ratings based on previous feedback.
In addition to these security measures, Yango has initiated a series of training programs to help drivers optimize the app’s functionalities. The company encourages all partner drivers to participate in these safety and quality training sessions, with plans to conduct them regularly throughout the year.
As part of its efforts to expand services nationwide, Yango has launched operations in Solwezi, reaffirming its commitment to making its service accessible to all. This expansion aims to empower more entrepreneurs, provide income generation opportunities for partners and drivers, and offer affordable and safe transportation for users.
