Back at home on break after a successful season at his club, Saudi-based Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala, who was recently embroiled in a noisy stand-off with the head coach for being excluded from the national team, has visited the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ)
Sakala enjoyed a stellar season with his club Al-Fayha, scoring 19 goals in 31 appearances, but was left out the Chipolopolo squad following an alleged fall-out with the head coach Avram Grant.
In the aftermath of the exclusion, the player accused Grant of forcing him and other players to sign for an Israeli agent or miss out on selection to the team.
After concluding the season in Saudi Arabia on Monday this week, Sakala arrived back home and visited the Football House this afternoon where he held a meeting with FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga, as reported by FAZ in a Facebook post.
He also met with former Chipolopolo players, Clifford Mulenga and Rainford Kalaba.
FAZ announced that it had instituted investigations into his allegations against Grant and requested the player to bring forth evidence.
Grant has strongly denied any wrongdoing and described the player’s claims as “lies” during a press briefing held on Monday.
Sakala has not featured for the Chipolopolo since January at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast where it is alleged that his relationship with the Israeli gaffer crumbled
