The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has selected Zambia for a second Compact worth US$450 million.
This was announced during a private meeting between President Hakainde Hichilema and the MCC Chief Executive Officer, Alice Albright, at State House on Monday.
The US$450 million deal will focus on the construction of the Chipata-Lundazi-Old Magodi Road to improve connectivity and boost agriculture in Eastern Zambia.
President Hichilema stressed the need for fast project implementation and expressed hope for a quick agreement signing.
HE also said Zambia’s ties with the USA will reinforce socio-economic development and infrastructure projects in the country.
President Hichilema praised the MCC’s first Compact, which improved water supply and sanitation to enhance the country’s public health.
