Mopani Copper Mines has contributed K341 million (approximately USD$13 million) in taxes since its acquisition by Internal Resources Holdings (IRH) in March 2024. The disclosure was made during a courtesy visit by IRH Chief Financial Officer, ABHINAY KHOWALA, to Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE in Lusaka today.
Mr. KHOWALA expressed the renewed enthusiasm within the workforce and emphasized their dedication to Mopani’s sustainability and the growth of the Zambian economy since its revitalization by IRH and the Zambian Government.
In response, Dr. Musokotwane highlighted the high expectations of the Zambian people regarding IRH’s investment in Mopani and commended the company’s initial efforts in meeting tax obligations, citing its positive impact on job creation, company stability, and business expansion.
Furthermore, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating business growth sustainably and competitively, while also discussing investment prospects in mineral exploration, mine development, and value addition.
International Resources Holding, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, holds a 51% stake in Mopani.
