Emmanuel Jay Banda has been taken into police custody after being discharged from Maina Soko Military Hospital today, the Zambia Police have announced.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has disclosed in a brief statement that having been discharged from the hospital this morning, Banda was taken into custody.
Banda has been in the hospital since May 27 when he resurfaced from his purported abduction. Twice he was discharged but readmitted almost immediately after he fainted and developed “a medical condition” as the police attempted to interview him regarding the alleged abduction and other matters.
“After receiving the necessary medical care and being deemed fit for discharge by the attending medical professionals, Honourable Banda was released from the medical centre and taken into police custody,” Hamoonga said.
A slew of legal suits and counter-suits have emerged after the Petauke Central lawmaker’s strange disappearance on May 25 and reappearance about 24 hours later.
