…As ZESCO overdraws Kariba Dam water allocation
ZESCO has indicated that it is preparing an emergency load rationing schedule to be released back-end of this week.
Acting Deputy Director Distribution and Customer Services Kennedy Muchanga is quoted by ZNBC as saying that additional to the normal load shedding schedule, the utility will use emergency load rationing in emergency cases.
Muchanga stated that drawing more water than it should have has led the power utility to ration more power by switching off users for extended hours.
He said emergency load rationing will be used in times of system challenges.
ZESCO has not released the load shedding schedule as is customary at the start of the new week. This has left consumers anxious as they don’t know when they will have power.
ZESCO instituted load management on March 11 in response to the energy insufficiency necessitated by a drought that has left the country’s power generation reservoirs yawning.
