The Zambia Men’s 4x400m Relay Team is the latest contingent to join the athletes that will be representing Zambia at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games starting later this month.
The team qualified for the Summer Games after all teams below their ranking failed to better their qualifying time.
Team Zambia who are led by sprint sensation Muzala Samukonga, had set a qualifying time of 2:59.12 seconds which was to be surpassed not further than 30th June 2024 with none of the teams managing to topple the record before the deadline.
Earlier this year in March, Samukonga and Team Zambia minted Gold medal with a record breaking time of 2:59:12s at the 2024 All-Africa Games in Accra held in Ghana to boost their chances of qualification for the Olympics.
The Indian 4x400m relay team were the last team to attempt to surpass Zambia’s record but failed in their bid to qualify for the Olympics despite setting a national record as it missed the target time exactly by a second on the final day of the National Inter-State Championships held on Sunday.
Samukonga leads the 4x400m Relay Team that also consists of David Mulenga, Kennedy Luchembe and Patrick Nyambe.
