Mazabuka District Commissioner Oliver Mulomba has disclosed that over 2400 vulnerable residents will be assisted through the emergency Social Cash Transfer program.
Mulomba said that this number is in addition to the existing 7700 recipients.
He explained that the program’s objective is to alleviate the adverse impacts of drought and prevent communities from experiencing famine.
Mulomba further stated that the government has raised the bi-monthly allocation for the regular Social Cash Transfer program.
He advised beneficiaries to utilize the funds responsibly and avoid engaging in harmful activities, such as excessive drinking.
Ireen Mweemba, a beneficiary of the Social Cash Transfer program, expressed appreciation to the government for the increased support.
She believes that this adjustment will assist beneficiaries in coping with the current economic challenges and escalating living expenses.
