The Zambia national team’s poor performances in the past two months means they continue to sink further down the world football rankings.
Chipolopolo have dropped two places on the latest Coca Cola FIFA Rankings released today and are now ranked 20th on the African continent and 92nd globally.
The latest drop on the rankings follows the Chipolopolo’s disastrous outing at the 2024 HollywoodBets COSAFA Cup tournament held earlier this month in South Africa.
The seven-time COSAFA winners failed to defend their title as they could neither score a goal nor garner a point in all three group games which they lost at the tournament.
Chipolopolo also extended their losing streak to five matches on the trot having also succumbed to back-to-back losses against Tanzania and Morocco in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last month.
Avram Grant and his charges will now look to overturn their recent unlucky streak next month when they regroup to prepare for the opening Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers slated to start in September.
Meanwhile, North African heavyweights Morocco have maintained their place at the summit of the rankings in Africa but drop into 14th place in the world.
Senegal have also maintained 2nd place with Egypt, Ivory Coast and Nigeria completing the top five on the continent in that order.
