Zambia women’s national team goalkeeper Hazel Nali has joined OFI Crete Women FC in the top-tier of women’s football in Greece.
Nali, 26, has joined the Greek side following successful negotiations between the club and her representatives.
She will be aiming to revive her career that had been threatened after suffering an Achilles Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury last year in July.
Crete confirmed the arrival of Nali this afternoon via Instagram: “Her transfer to our team is expected to bring quality and additional experience to the team’s defense, significantly strengthening our efforts for standout performances in the new season.
With Natasha Hazel (Nali) at our end, the team has yet another corner stone in its quest to achieve new goals” the club wrote in a statement.
Nali had been without a club since last year when she saw her contract with Turkish club Fatih Vatan SK terminated after suffering a career threatening injury while on national duty prior to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
The former Green Buffaloes Ladies shot-stopper is now expected to attempt to resuscitate her career and hope to return to the Copper Queens squad for the Morocco 2024 (to be held in 2025) Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
