Government Focused on Strengthening Healthcare System – Muchima

Must read

Minister of Health Dr. Elijah Muchima says the government has prioritized health sector strengthening to improve access to proper health care in the country.

During the handover of vehicles yesterday, Muchima said improved healthcare delivery depended largely on an effective and efficient transportation system, hence, the government’s decision to procure the vehicles.

The government, in collaboration with the Global Fund, has procured more than 115 new vehicles at a total cost of US$3.9 million. The vehicles will be distributed to different health centers across the country.

“Strengthening the health system is a key focus for the new dawn government. As a government, we recognize that without a robust transportation system, our ability to combat diseases and provide comprehensive care is severely limited,” Muchima said.

The minister further revealed that government the government had procured an additional 10 vehicles for each provincial health office to ensure the effective execution of duties in the health sector.

“These 125 vehicles will help to ensure that provincial health teams have the reliable transportation they need to effectively manage and oversee health service delivery,” he said, describing it as a significant investment that will strengthen health delivery systems and improve access to quality health care for all Zambians

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency will receive 66 out of the 125 vehicles as the government works to support the efficient delivery of medicines and medical supplies around the country.
