A leaked document cited by various media outlets claims that South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC) has decided to expel Jacob Zuma, its former leader and South Africa’s past president.
While not yet officially announced, the decision to expel Zuma follows disciplinary proceedings instituted against him earlier this month for leading a rival grouping into the May elections, which saw that party – uMkhonto we Sizwe – emerge third only a few months after its formation, underscoring Zuma’s enduring popularity.
According to the document, Zuma has the right to appeal the decision to the ANC’s National Disciplinary Committee within 21 days.
If this were to happen and his appeal goes successfully his way, he could get his ANC membership back.
