Green Party Members Against Joining UKA

Must read

The Green Party’s vice-president Clement Tafeni is saddened by the party president’s decision to join the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA).

Tafeni said in an interview today that majority of the party members, including himself, had made their stance against joining the alliance very clear because the Green Party was a sellable brand with a manifesto, which does not need to go into an alliance.

“I don’t know anything about our party joining the alliance and in our discussions within the party and with the president, the structures have let it known that we are against joining the UKA,” Tafeni said.

He stated that his party is anchored on shared principles, values, and a vision within the Greens family and did not want to mingle with any political party or parties anyhow because they would not add any value.

The Greens veep claims that he does not even know the makeup of UKA and outfits like the Patriotic Front (PF), which are part of UKA, are in a long and chaotic process of rebranding.

The PF currently has three or more presidents and two or more Secretaries-General.

Tafeni wondered how his party could be part of that confusion.

He asserted that his party’s political future is bright as it has a very young constituency of voters who have no allegiance to political affiliation but simply decide on principles and what the party has for them.
