As part of the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway construction project, 1,747 Zambians have been employed to date in the operation.
The undertaking, which began on May 21, 2024, following a groundbreaking ceremony led by President Hakainde Hichilema, aims to upgrade the 327-kilometer Lusaka-Ndola Road to a dual carriageway and rehabilitate 45 kilometers of the Masangano-Fisenge-Luanshya Road under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) financing model.
Among those employed, 865 are general workers, 233 are plant operators, 38 are engineers, 33 are administrators, and 578 are involved in other construction-related roles.
MOIC-LN Consortium Limited is managing the extensive works, which include the construction of dual carriageways, bypasses at Kabwe and Kapiri-Mposhi, new toll plazas, weighbridges, and the expansion and improvement of existing bridges along the route.
The completion of the project is anticipated to significantly enhance travel times between Lusaka and the Copperbelt province, ensuring a continuous flow of traffic, improved road conditions, and increased safety.
