Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has reportedly been offered a staggering deal exceeding $1 billion to join the Saudi Pro League (SPL), according to sources cited by Reuters and ESPN. The proposed contract includes $218 million per season for five years, plus bonuses, and a separate 10-year ambassador role leading up to the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The 24-year-old Brazilian, who joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018, has not yet declined the offer and is currently reviewing it with his representatives. Last season, Vinícius scored 24 goals and contributed 11 assists as Real Madrid secured both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
Should he move, Vinícius would become one of the most prominent players in Saudi Arabia, joining other global stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Karim Benzema in the SPL. This comes after French striker Kylian Mbappé turned down a $775 million offer to join Saudi club Al-Hilal. The SPL’s founding teams—Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr—are majority owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
