Shivambu Resigns From EFF

Must read

Floyd Shivambu, the deputy president of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has resigned from the party.

The announcement was made during an urgent press briefing today at Winne Madikizela Mandela House, the party’s headquarters in Marshalltown, Johannesburg.

After much speculation, Shivambu confirmed that he had joined the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party led by former South Africa President Jacob Zuma.

He clarified that he had not been given a specific position or promise in the new party but was motivated by his desire to serve.

In response to Shivambu’s resignation, EFF leader Julius Malema expressed deep sadness, likening it to the pain he felt when he lost his mother upon receiving the resignation letter.

Malema emphasized the strong bond he shared with Shivambu, particularly highlighting their role in founding the EFF together.

Despite the party’s constitution not allowing former members who resigned to return, Malema made an exception for Shivambu, stating that he would be welcome back in the future.
