The government has cleared more than K4 billion in arrears to suppliers of seed and inputs under the Farmer Input Support Program, Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary – Technical Services John Mulongoti has disclosed.
Mulongoti said the remaining arrears, amounting to less than 3% of the total owed, would be paid after the relevant reconciliations with suppliers are completed and approved.
He said the payments, relating to the 2023/2024 farming season, would enable agriculture stakeholders to effectively participate in inputs supply for the impending 2034/2025 season.
