The Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) has awarded Barnabas Chiti, a Grade 11 student from Kawambwa Provincial STEM School, a full scholarship. Chiti earned this accolade for his innovative Solar Pumped Hydro System project, which he presented at the recent National JETS Fair in Lusaka. The project merges solar energy with hydro technology to provide a sustainable energy solution.
During a media briefing, EIZ Executive Officer David Kamungu highlighted that this sponsorship aims to inspire future engineers and scientists to pursue ambitious dreams. Kamungu encouraged students to approach Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects with passion and dedication.
Additionally, Senior Engineer Professor Clive Chirwa contributed K1,000 towards Chiti’s education. Both Barnabas Chiti and his mother, Getrude Mwewa, expressed their gratitude to EIZ and Professor Chirwa for their generous support.
