A Ugandan man, identified as Ddamulira Godfrey, has been found in possession of 24 human skulls, leading to allegations of human sacrifice. The police have announced that he will be charged under the Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act, which could result in a life sentence if he is convicted.
Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango revealed that animal remains and skins were also discovered at Godfrey’s shrine in Kampala. Authorities are continuing to search the site for additional human remains.
Godfrey, who claims to be a traditional healer, faces significant scrutiny as the Traditional Healers’ Association disassociates itself from him. This incident follows a similar case from last month, where 17 human skulls were found at a shrine in Mpigi, linked to ritualistic practices.
Such discoveries highlight a disturbing trend of human sacrifice tied to beliefs in magical charms for prosperity or cursing adversaries in parts of Africa.
