The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has initiated the payment of K450 million to suppliers for essential medicines delivered to the Agency. This payment, covering deliveries made between April and July 2024, is part of ZAMMSA’s efforts to support and strengthen the local pharmaceutical industry.
The payments had been delayed due to recent structural changes at the Agency and ongoing investigations related to 61 containers stranded at a Makeni depot.
The release of these funds is anticipated to positively affect local businesses and stimulate economic growth. ZAMMSA remains committed to fostering economic development through the support of local enterprises.
