The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) has awarded 600 student loans to first-year students at Mukuba University for the 2024/2025 academic year.
HELSB reviewed a total of 1,378 applications, of which 1,218 were deemed eligible, while 160 were ineligible. This results in an eligibility rate of 88 percent. The applicant pool consisted of 755 males (55 percent) and 623 females (45 percent). Among the applicants, 774 are from rural districts and 604 from urban districts.
Of the 1,218 eligible applicants, 669 are male and 549 are female. Additionally, 682 eligible applicants are from rural areas, while 536 are from urban regions.
Notably, no applications were received from individuals with disabilities this year. HELSB encourages persons with disabilities to apply in future cycles to ensure they also benefit from the sponsorship opportunities.
