In a press statement, Thabo Kawana, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Media, has announced the return of Chief Justice Dr. Mumba Malila, SC, to Zambia following his successful medical treatment in South Africa. The Chief Justice was evacuated after a road traffic accident on August 30, 2024.
Mr. Kawana has reported that Dr. Malila was first evaluated at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and later transferred to Maina Soko Military Hospital for further care. Given the need for specialized medical attention, he was subsequently evacuated to South Africa.
The Permanent Secretary noted that the Chief Justice has shown significant progress in his recovery and is now back in Zambia, where he continues to recuperate. His health is improving steadily, and he remains in good spirits.
Mr. Kawana also expressed gratitude to the medical teams in both Zambia and South Africa for their exceptional care and thanked the public for their unwavering support, prayers, and well-wishes during this challenging time.
