Murder suspect Francis Chipyoka, 42, concealed his face from cameras as he arrived at Lusaka Magistrates Court yesterday alongside his co-accused for an explanation of their charges and potential committal to the High Court. The other suspects include police officers Mtusani Baza, 29, and Caleb Zulu, 30; systems engineer Samuel Baza, 37.
All face non-bailable murder charges related to the July incident in which Muleya, 44, was found dead with two gunshot wounds in Lusaka’s Njolwe area.
Relatives of the late Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director-General Guntila Muleya were visibly distressed as the magistrate outlined the murder charges against the four suspects. Among those grieving was Muleya’s mother, Lucy Siawiyi, who, along with two other women, shed tears during the proceedings.
