Must read

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has expressed appreciation for the Zambian government’s positive stance towards foreigners living in Zambia. During a recent ceremony, where he received Letters of Credence from H.E. Mrs. Rose Sakala, Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Somalia, President Mohamud commended Zambia for its policies that foster foreign investment and business participation.

He urged Ambassador Sakala to advocate for Zambian investment opportunities in Somalia, particularly in sectors such as mining and tourism, emphasizing the potential for collaboration to benefit both nations.

In her response, Ambassador Sakala reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing Zambia’s diplomatic relations with Somalia through increased economic cooperation. She also highlighted Zambia’s dedication to promoting peace and stability in the Eastern region, noting that sustainable development is contingent upon security.

Ambassador Sakala acknowledged President Hichilema’s leadership in advocating for peace across Africa and referenced Zambia’s contributions to peacebuilding, including the deployment of troops under the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Programme.

The Ambassador previously presented her credentials to Mr. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, the Somali Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

This collaboration underscores the growing diplomatic ties between Somalia and Zambia, signaling a mutual commitment to economic and security partnerships.
