ZANIS Launches Television Station

Must read

In an effort to enhance information dissemination, the government’s public relations arm—ZANIS, formerly Zambia News and Information Services—has launched a television channel.

Launched by the Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa yesterday, who represented President Hichilema, the new state television channel is expected to “promote transparency and ensure every Zambian” can access accurate and timely information regarding the government’s work regardless of where the person is.

He described the development as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to open communication and transparency as it would undoubtedly enhance the dissemination of information on its programs, policies, and projects.

Mweetwa said the television channel had come at the right time when the country was facing natural calamities that have negatively affected the government’s strides in delivering development.

He also expects it would strengthen the connection between the government and the people and urged attention to detail in news production.

Until now, ZANIS has been running its television programs on the ZNBC channels.
