Police in Lusaka have reported a minor road traffic accident involving two vehicles that occurred today, October 20, 2024, around 11:00 AM at the intersection of Independence Avenue and President’s Lane, near State House.
The accident involved Hon. Stephen Kampyongo, 52, who was driving a Toyota Hilux (registration number BAR 6489). He sustained slight injuries and was transported to Maina Soko Medical Center for treatment. His vehicle, traveling along Independence Avenue towards Woodlands, sustained significant damage.

The second vehicle, a Toyota Hilux (registration number GRZ 174 CJ), was driven by Mr. Ezron Moono, 60, from Chilanga. He also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH). His vehicle was damaged, particularly on both doors.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the collision occurred when Mr. Moono failed to yield to Hon. Kampyongo’s vehicle while joining Independence Avenue. Both drivers are reported to be in stable condition, and further investigations are underway.
