Former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo is embroiled in a legal dispute after being accused of defrauding a client out of K560,000 related to the sale of two pieces of land.
James Kayula has filed a lawsuit in the Lusaka High Court, seeking a refund after Lusambo failed to deliver the land as promised. According to court documents, Kayula entered into a sales contract with Lusambo on August 28, 2023, for the properties located in Ngwerere and Meanwood Ibex, advancing K560,000 for the purchase.
Kayula alleges that Lusambo refused to provide vacant possession of the land. Following multiple discussions, the parties agreed that Lusambo would refund the K560,000. On July 14, 2024, they formalized this agreement, which stipulated Lusambo would repay the amount in installments: K200,000 by July 31, 2024; K200,000 by August 31, 2024; and a final K160,000 by September 30, 2024.
However, Kayula claims Lusambo has only paid K50,000 to date, despite repeated reminders. As a result, Kayula is now seeking K510,000 in outstanding payments, damages for breach of contract, and additional legal costs from the court.
