Kenya’s ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto on Sunday, labeling him “vicious” and expressing concerns for his safety. Gachagua’s remarks come following his impeachment by the Senate on five out of eleven charges last Thursday, although a court order has temporarily halted the process of appointing his successor.
“I am shocked by how vicious a man I helped to elevate to the presidency could be against me,” Gachagua stated during a press conference. The 59-year-old politician revealed that his security had been revoked and his entire staff placed on compulsory leave.
He warned, “If anything happens to me or my family, President William Ruto must be held accountable,” referring to alleged past attempts on his life.
