Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has announced the temporary shutdown of operations in Chingola, Chililabombwe, Nampundwe, and Kitwe after recording a second fatality at the Chingola Open Pit Mine. The mining company stated that the pause is necessary to conduct comprehensive reviews of safety procedures and their implementation to prevent future accidents.
