ZESCO Limited has confirmed that residential areas will primarily receive power at night this week, as that is when imported electricity is available. This adjustment follows a loss of 150 megawatts (MW) at the Maamba thermal power plant, which has impacted supply since Sunday.
ZESCO spokesperson Matongo Maumbi explained on ZNBC TV’s “The Update” that without this shortfall, power would have been supplied during both day and night. He emphasized that the inability to provide the full 150MW during the day is a direct result of the ongoing issue at Maamba.
