The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced progress in resolving the rift between national team coach Avram Grant and forward Fashion Sakala.
Sakala, currently playing in Saudi Arabia, has not participated in national team activities since a fallout with Grant following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. Grant has stated that Sakala is welcome to return if he offers a public apology.
“He (Sakala) is a Zambian, fully qualified to play for the national team, and is in excellent form,” said FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga during an appearance on Radio Phoenix’s Let the People Talk program. “We have had multiple discussions with both the player and the coach, fostering a meeting of minds.”
Kamanga expressed optimism that ongoing discussions between Sakala and Grant will lead to a resolution.
