COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) member states have officially endorsed Dr. Samuel Munzele Maimbo as their candidate for the Presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB). This decision was made during the recent COMESA Summit held in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The endorsement includes support from member states such as Burundi, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The summit was also attended by various partners and organizations, including the African Continental Free Trade Area, the Africa Export and Import Bank, the African Development Bank, the African Union Commission, the European Union, the International Trade Centre, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the World Bank.
