Social media personality Mutale Mwanza has been arrested and charged for the harassment of Mwansa Daisy Lusumpa.
Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga has disclosed that Mwanza was arrested yesterday and will soon appear in court, charged with harassment utilizing electronic communication.
Hamoonga stated that Lufumpa lodged a formal police complaint alleging that on November 8, Mwanza posted insulting and defamatory remarks about her on a Facebook page under the name “Mutale Mwanza”.
“The content of the post falsely suggested that Ms. Lufumpa was engaged in illicit activities, accompanied by other libelous statements,” stated Hamoonga.
Following an inquiry and investigations, Mwanza was arrested yesterday in abrogation of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.
Citizens have been reminded to exercise caution, responsibility, and respect for others when using electronic communication platforms as harassment, including dissemination of defamatory or abusive content constitutes a serious offense and is punishable by law.
Mwansa has also sued Mwanza for defamation, demanding K2 million.
