Naomi Chanda, a Zambian farmer and trainer, has been featured on the list of the top 100 women inspiring others, as compiled by the BBC.
The BBC 100 Women is an annual initiative that showcases 100 influential and inspiring women from across the globe.
Chanda is committed to promoting sustainable agricultural practices within her community.
As an agriculture guide at a teaching farm, she emphasizes “climate-smart” skills that honor and protect the land.
Chanda works with the girls’ education NGO Camfed to empower young women in Zambia’s far northeast.
She instructs approximately 150 women on how to adapt farming techniques to build resilience against climate change, which has significantly affected smallholder farmers in the area.
The selection process of the BBC 100 Women
involves nominations collected through research and recommendations from the BBC’s worldwide network of journalists and language teams.
