Numba Mumamba Dumps Warriors for Zanaco Return

Must read

Seven-time Zambian Premier League champions Zanaco have re-appointed Numba Mumamba as club head coach to replace Dabid Chilufya who had been handling the team in an interim capacity.

The 46-year old coach returns to Sunset Stadium after a successful stint with Kabwe Warriors whom he has guided up to third place on the league standings this 2024/25 campaign.

Mumamba was unveiled this afternoon by club General Manager Modest Hamalabi who announced that the two-time league winning coach has been engaged on a two-and-half years contract.

Hamalabi also welcomed former Chipolopolo player Noel Mwandila who will serve as assistant coach alongside Dabid Chilufya, both committing to two-and-half years contracts.

Mumamba has since been tasked with the responsibility of overturning the Bankers’ fortunes after a difficult season as they find themselves sitting in the relegation zone in 15th place with 17 points.

“As you know, the team faced challenges in the first round of this season, and we recognize the need for a fresh approach, which is why we have appointed coach Numba and Coach Noel. This is a significant step we have taken in the growth and success of Zanaco Football Club, and we remain hopeful that things will turn around. We believe the coaches will bring value to the team,” Hamalabi said.

Mumamba previously handled Zanaco from 2015 to 2020 and led the club to the league title in his second season at the club.
