The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has filed a lawsuit against Fredrobie Concept Zambia Limited, a marketing agency, seeking K1 million for breach of contract following the agency’s failure to sponsor and organize the Division One playoffs as agreed.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, FAZ is demanding reimbursement for match official expenses and the immediate delivery of KoPa-branded football kits.
The association is also seeking damages for breach of contract, exemplary damages, interest on all sums found due, and legal costs.
Fredrobie Concept Zambia, registered under the Companies Act No. 10 of 2017, specializes in online marketing, social media events, live streaming, branding, and event management strategies.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga explained that the association annually organizes the FAZ Division One playoffs, where four top teams are promoted to the Zambian Super League.
According to the contract signed in November 2023, Fredrobie Concept was obligated to sponsor and organize the playoffs.
The terms of the agreement included providing each participating team with K100,000 for transportation, meals, and accommodation, supplying each player with three 500ml bottles of water per game, awarding a “Man of the Match” prize for every game, and supplying KoPa-branded football kits for all teams.
In return, FAZ assigned key economic rights to Fredrobie Concept, including broadcasting rights, ticket sales, promotion and advertising rights, and revenue collection.
FAZ claims that while they fulfilled their obligations under the agreement, Fredrobie Concept failed to honor any of its contractual commitments, resulting in financial losses and damages to the association.
