Two men from Bauleni Compound face a possible minimum sentence of 15 years for allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman.
Elias Zulu, 27, and Davies Kawala, 22, a general worker, both from Bauleni Compound, were reported by the victim, who stated that on October 22, 2024, around 19:00 hours, her friend called her and requested that she bring back her phone.
The victim went to her friend’s house and found her alone at home.
After giving her the phone, it became late and when her friend decided to go to a nearby shop, she encountered some men there, among them were the accused.
The friend asked the accused to escort the victim as it was getting late.
They accepted, but on their way, the two men changed their minds and told her that they could not escort her for free.
They informed her that they wanted to have sex with her. She refused and began pleading with them, but they turned a deaf ear. They both dragged her into a bush in Twinpalm and raped her.
Zulu was the first to rape her while Kawala watched. Later, Kawala also raped her in the bush.
Both men ran away, leaving her in the bush. The victim went home and reported the matter to the Bauleni police post the next day.
