Bishop John General, on trial for rape, is alleged to have told the victim to “come to him to make a baby” when she shared her desperation to conceive.
John General, whose real name is John Nundwe, is facing charges for allegedly raping a married member of his congregation.
What is even more shocking is the WhatsApp message he sent to the victim, saying “bwela tupange” (come, let’s make) in response to her pleas for help in having a child.
According to Jeff Sitali, a cybersecurity analyst who examined Nundwe’s iPhone 13 Pro Max, there were 11 WhatsApp messages exchanged between Nundwe and the alleged victim over a period of one year.
However, only one message was sent by Nundwe, while the rest were initiated by the woman.
The messages revealed that she had been seeking Nundwe’s help to conceive, with texts such as “Daddy, what can I do to have a child, please?” and “I need a child, Daddy, please….” Nundwe’s sole response was “Bwela tupange,” which roughly translates to “come, let’s make.”
Sitali’s examination of the phone also revealed that on the day of the alleged incident, she made several unanswered video and audio calls to Nundwe.
However, Sitali noted that he couldn’t determine with certainty whether messages were deleted or if there was a disappearing setting on the messages.
The trial has been adjourned to February 26 and 28.
Nundwe is the overseer of Miracle Impact Ministries International in Matero Township.
