Power Trounce Zanaco to go Fourth as Lwandamina’s Nchanga Hold Zesco at Levy

Must read

Power Dynamos have beaten rivals Zanaco 4-0 following an emphatic performance in a Week 22 MTN Super League clash played at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe this afternoon.

The Kitwe giants took the lead in the first-half through Malawian attacker Chifundo Mphatsi after 21 minutes before completing their rout over the struggling Bankers with three more goals in the second half.

Power increased their lead thanks to an own goal by Kelvin Kapumbu in the 51st minute and two more from John Soko and Brian Masanyinga in the 72nd and 77th minutes respectively to see off the relegation-threatened Bankers.

After victory today, Power have moved into 4th place with 36 points while the Bankers have dropped back into the danger zone after defeat as they are now placed 15th with 22 points.

George Lwandamina returned to the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium and saw his Nchanga Rangers side hold Zesco United to a 1-1 draw.

Abraham Siankombo gave Zesco an early lead with a 4th minute strike before striker Mwiza Siwale leveled the scores four minutes to the half-hour mark.

Nonetheless, Zesco remain top of the table with 40 points after today’s draw while Nchanga are 13th on 24 points.

Current title holders Red Arrows picked up an important 1-0 victory away at Lumwana Radiants in North Western Province.

Substitute Paul Katema came off the bench and scored a late goal in the 84th minute to secure a vital win which has seen the Airmen rise into second position with 38 points.

Nkana still remain without a victory in their last three matches after being held to a 1-1 stalemate by Nkwazi this afternoon.

Lazarus Kambole had given Kalampa the lead after 27 minutes of play at the Edwin Imboela Stadium but his goal was later cancelled out by Kenneth Kasanga six minutes into the second half.

Kalampa have since dropped further down into 5th place with 34th points following their poor run of form.

In Lusaka, Green Buffaloes secured their first victory in seven matches as they beat Athletico Lusaka 1-0 at Nkoloma Stadium.
