Lusaka Court Issues Bench Warrant for Emmanuel Mwamba

Must read

The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has issued a bench warrant against Patriotic Front (PF) Chairperson for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba, for failing to appear in court.

Magistrate Amy Masoja warned that Mwamba’s police bond could be revoked if he does not appear before the court by February 26.

Mwamba is jointly charged with Jacqueline Chopa, 49, Gideon Tolopa, 42, and Gift Kachingwe, 32, for alleged disorderly conduct at Kabwata Police Station on February 27, 2024.

The incident occurred when the accused, along with other PF members, reportedly gathered at the station in support of Raphael Nakachinda, PF Secretary General who was in detention.

When the case was called on Wednesday, Mwamba was absent.

His sureties informed the court that he was unwell and currently in the United States, with a return ticket scheduled for March 4.

Magistrate Masoja found the explanation unsatisfactory and issued a bench warrant, returnable on February 26.
