Agony 3: One Commuter’s Existential Crisis in the rainy season

Must read

Admin, the way it is raining like this, how hard is it for you to get on a bus? I came from Ndola today. I dropped off at Intercity and then went to get on a bus going to Makeni. Honestly, the line I found there really shocked me, guys. I just stood there wondering if I was still in Lusaka or if I had accidentally entered another country.

Is it just me, or has the population in Lusaka doubled overnight? The queue was so long that I even started questioning my life choices. And this is in the rain, where everyone is squeezing together under small shelters, trying not to get soaked. It was honestly overwhelming.

Can someone please advise me, what time is the best time to get on a bus to avoid these long lines at the bus stations? Should I be there before sunrise? Very late at night? Because the way things are, I don’t think I can manage like this again.

And is this situation everywhere, or is it just with the Makeni buses? I need to know if it’s a general Lusaka issue or if Makeni routes are just on another level. Please advise, guys.
