MTN Super League side Kabwe Warriors have appointed former Under-17 women’s national team coach Albert Kachinga as new head coach to replace Numba Mumamba.

Warriors have announced that it has engaged Kachinga on a short-term deal until the end of the current season.

Speaking in an interview after being unveiled today, Kachinga said he was hopeful that his arrival at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium will help steer the club to attaining the goals it had set for this season.

“I think it is an honor for me to be roped in as Kabwe Warriors coach and really the team has been doing well and I think my coming in is just to try and help the team realize its goals and we will try as much we can to push,” Kachinga said.

Kachinga who last coached Trident and Prison Leopards in the Super League, says he will focus on improving the team offensively having struggled to score goals in recent matches.

“I think in the previous games the team really hasn’t been attacking and I think that is the most immediate thing that we need to do. We have to make sure that we enhance our attacking options,” he said.

Kachinga takes over from Happy Sichikolo who had been in charge in an interim capacity since the departure of Numba Mumamba and Noel Mwandila in January.

Currently 4th on the Super League table, Warriors have tasked the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying-coach to lead the club to the 2025 ABSA Cup title as well as qualify for continental football.
