MTN SUPER LEAGUE: Arrows Aim to Assail Zesco’s Lead as Warriors Receive Numba & Zanaco in Week 24

Must read

The league holders will aim to send a stern warning to the rest of the title contenders and boost their aspirations to defend the crown as they visit the Ndola giants who are the current runaway leaders in a blockbuster clash of Week 24 round fixtures in the MTN Super League.

Zesco United will host rivals Red Arrows in a what is expected to be crunch encounter at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium this afternoon.

The hosts lead the Super League table with 43 points and Arrows, in 4th place, will be out to cut the current four-point gap between them and Zesco.

However, Arrows will have to be at their best this afternoon to overcome a Zesco side currently on a streak of 9 matches with no defeat.

Second-placed Kabwe Warriors and the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium welcome a familiar foe in immediate past head coach Numba Mumamba with his Zanaco side this afternoon.

Warriors, in second place with 41 points, will go in search of three points to keep up the pressure on leaders Zesco while Numba continues his mission to steer the Bankers away from their current dreaded 17th position.

The unceremonious separation between Warriors and Numba will act as the condiment to what is expected to be a fierce encounter between the two former league winners.

Power Dynamos aim to continue their recent amazing run of form as they visit struggling Athletico Lusaka at Nkoloma Stadium.

Power have risen up to third with 39 points and just four points separating them from the top after having won three of their last five matches.

Meanwhile, the fortunes of the inexperienced Athletico side seem to be dwindling after succumbing to four consecutive defeats and find themselves in a relegation battle as they sit 15th with 25 points.

In North Western Province, Lumwana Radiants and Forest Rangers go to battle with the similar target of boosting their hopes of survival.

Forest, 16th, with 24 points could catch-up with or leapfrog 12th placed Lumwana who have 25 points ahead of today’s match.

Record 13-time champions Nkana will be in action on Sunday as they host Green Eagles at the Nkana Stadium.

Kalampa returned to winning ways in style last weekend as they thrashed Athletico Lusaka 5-1 and will hope to build on that win against the Zambia National Service sponsored outfit.

Eagles will look to turnaround their recent bad streak of results having failed to record a a single win this 2025 as they have lost four times and drawn once in this new year.
