Must read

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has disbursed K2.5 billion for road projects and related activities across the country.

Public Relations Manager Alphonsius Hamachila said that another K1.1 billion went towards servicing road sector loans while the balance of the funds received as road project budget support from the Ministry of Finance and National Planning was channeled to ongoing road projects and dismantling arrears owed to road contractors and consultants.

Hamachila told journalists in Mongu that the NRFA had paid out over K803 million for ongoing road projects undertaken by the Road Development Agency (RDA), while K445 million was taken up by ongoing road projects undertaken by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. Another ZMW17.8 million was allocated to road safety activities implemented by the Road Transport and Safety Agency.

He also revealed that the NRFA will soon migrate the road tolling operations at Mweeke Toll Station, located between Kaoma and Mongu, to a new tolling facility fitted with modern infrastructure and in a more conducive environment.

The upgrade works are a continuous program that will be extended to all Class C toll stations, including Tapo Toll Gate between Mongu and Kalabo, Lui Toll Gate between Senanga and Sesheke, and others in the Copperbelt, Luapula, and Northern provinces.
