The president of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Andrew Kamanga, has raised concerns about what he perceives as a deliberate attempt to undermine his leadership through the involvement of certain institutions.
Recent weeks have been filled with challenges for Kamanga and his executive team, navigating inquiries from the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and contending with an injunction against the FAZ Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The Ndola High Court is slated to address the inter-party hearing this week regarding the injunction obtained against the AGM, which failed to proceed last month.
In his regular blog post, Kamanga has shed light on the complexities surrounding the current state of affairs concerning his leadership.
“We are aware of a meticulously orchestrated scheme aimed at tarnishing FAZ and its leadership, involving the manipulation of certain institutions to bolster specific candidates for next year’s elections,” Kamanga revealed.
“It’s common knowledge that FAZ elections are not scheduled until next year, and therefore, the leadership should be allowed to govern the sport without undue interference.”
“While we have maintained a stance of respect and adherence to regulations throughout this challenging period, it should not be interpreted as weakness,” Kamanga asserted.
In other news, Kamanga has confirmed that President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to attend the ABSA Cup final match between Red Arrows and Kabwe Warriors at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. Red Arrows secured their spot in the final by defeating Nchanga Rangers 2-1, while Kabwe Warriors achieved victory over MUZA with the same score line.
