Counsel for State House Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has described Emmanuel Jay Banda’s allegations of abduction against Hamasaka as hallucinations.
Responding to Banda’s lawyer, Makebi Zulu, who had written a “letter before action” to Hamasaka’s legal representatives, Mweemba & Company stated that they do not intend to grace Banda’s spurious allegations with the dignity of a meaningful response.
“Our client believes your client may not have been in a proper state of mind when he passed the so-called instructions to address your letter to him, containing what can at best be described as hallucinations,” Mweemba stated.
He has advised Makebi Zulu Advocates to confirm with their client that he has never in his life, let alone recently, met Hamasaka and does not know him at all.
“How then would he have identified our client as one of his purported abductors, who strangely are also accused of “attempting to cause his suicide”,” Mweemba wondered.
He added that this is Banda’s apparent scheme to pre-empt Hamasaka’s legal action against him for defamation, “in which we will seek to recover not less than K10 million in damages against him”, which had backfired.
Mweemba has invited Makebi to proceed with the matter should they feel they can sustain an action.
“Should you be of the view that you can, nonetheless, sustain an action against our client under those circumstances, kindly take the liberty to serve the same on ourselves.”
